Welcome to the Summer Bucket List, 2024 edition! This summer we’ll be spending the end of June and all of July upstate as we usually do. While I will have to go back to the city a few times with Hermione for ballet related things, I am truly longing for weeks of incredibly slow days with very few commitments or obligations. It’s the down time upstate that allows me to function at the pace I do the rest of the year. It’s our total and much needed gear shift.

In Lieu of Sleepaway Camp
Pictured above: At last night’s Fourth of July party upstate in this Gingham taffeta midi dress (move quick, theres’s just a few sizes left), woven straw bag and clutch that doubles as a crossbody.
This year, and for the foreseeable future, neither of my girls are going to sleepaway camp. Coming from New York City where camps ranging from 4-7 weeks are the norm once kids hit eight, this is certainly seen by some as a controversial at worst, “different” at best decision. I get it. But also I have never been one to subscribe to societal norms “just because.”
